Contact Lenses

Contacts offer advantages over glasses which many people enjoy, including improved peripheral vision and better comfort for sports and outdoor activities. Our doctors utilize the latest advances in contact lens designs and materials. For example, we offer toric contacts for astigmatism, bifocal or multifocal lenses, colored contacts, and breathable lenses for improved eye health and comfort.

We work with many teens and adults who are first time contact wearers. Our contact lens care involves thorough patient education and follow-up care to ensure great vision with the best fitting contacts available.

Contact Lens Training

Correct your vision while you sleep! Find out more about Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT). These are specially designed contacts that are worn overnight and then removed during the day.

You can also read a list of dos and don'ts concerning contact lens use.

Comprehensive Eye Exams

A yearly comprehensive eye exam is important to keep your vision sharp and your eyes healthy. Our doctors provide careful evaluations to provide accurate eyeglass and/or contact lens prescriptions. However, we believe eye care involves much more than just examining your eyes to see if optical correction is necessary.

Comprehensive eye exams can detect early warning signs of diseases that may affect your ocular health and general health. We utilize digital retinal photography, which provides a picture of the inside of the eye. Evaluation of this photograph can lead to early diagnosis of eye diseases and medical conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure.

Eye Exams

Dry Eye Treatment

Dry eye is a common condition where the eyes do not produce enough tears or the tears may be poor quality. Our doctors are able to evaluate the cause for dry eye and offer specific treatments which may include lubricating eye drops, prescription medications such as Restasis, punctual plugs and lifestyle or nutritional modifications.

For more information on dry eye treatment with punctual plugs, please visit dryeye.org/dandt.htm

Age-Related Macular Degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) occurs when the cells in the center portion of the retina deteriorate over time. This degeneration is more common as we get older and leads to various levels of central vision loss which can make it difficult to read and drive.

We are very excited to have a revolutionary device called the Macuscope to help identify those patients who may be at a higher risk of developing macular degeneration. The Macuscope is a safe and painless way to track macular protective pigment density, giving our doctors the ability to place patients into either high-risk or low-risk categories. Those who are at high-risk for the disease are put on a treatment program which includes specific nutritional supplements.

Cataracts

Cataract is a common aging change that occurs when the lens inside the eye gradually becomes cloudy. When  surgical care is needed for treatment of cataracts we work closely with local specialists to ensure high quality care that is close to home and convenient.  Many times we can provide pre and post surgical care in our office.

Glaucoma

Glaucoma is an eye disease that can lead to progressive vision loss if not treated early. This can occur painlessly without any noticeable symptoms. Vision loss in glaucoma happens when the optic nerve is damaged often from increased eye pressure.

New technological advancements available in our office allow us to detect early signs of glaucoma before any vision impairment has occurred.  In cases where treatment is necessary, our doctors are trained and experienced in managing glaucoma cases.

Diabetic Eye Care

Retinal Photograph

Diabetics are at an increased risk for eye problems including diabetic retinopathy. High blood sugar can cause blood to leak from retinal vessels. If this goes untreated, vision loss may occur from damage to the retina.

We utilize digital retinal photography, which allows our doctors to provide a thorough evaluation for diabetic retinopathy by taking a picture of the inside of the eye.

LASIK Evaluations

During your exam, our doctors will determine if you are a good candidate for LASIK eye surgery.  If surgery is the right decision for you, we make it easy by offering pre and post operative visits in our office.  We only work with the most advanced and most experienced LASIK surgeons in the area.

Eye Emergencies and Eye Infections

For eye problems that require immediate attention we can often schedule an urgent visit that day, during our regular office hours.  Our doctors are trained and certified to treat a variety of eye diseases.  This includes treatment for eye infections, ocular allergies and eye injuries.  For eye emergencies that require further treatment or surgical intervention, our doctors will evaluate the condition and make appropriate referrals to local specialists.

If you have an eye emergency when our office is closed please visit your local emergency room.
